He loved the first two acts because the thespian who got his part was terrible. &#;He mumbled, you couldn&#;t hear what he was saying,&#; writes Douglas. &#;I congratulated myself on how much improve I would have been. Suddenly, in the third act, he erupted, electrifying the audience. I consideration, &#;My God, he&#;s good!&#; and looked in the program for his name: Marlon Brando.&#;

&#; While Douglas was a student at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he occasionally dated another student, a young girl named Betty Bacall, who later became Lauren Bacall. Kirk Douglas, who died February 5, at the age of , may have been an Academy Award-winning actor and an icon of the film industry’s Golden Age, but he's should also be remembered for the incredible six-decade bond he shares with his wife.

Douglas became a leading box-office star in the '50s and '60s, primarily established for serious dramas, westerns, and war films, including his first starring role in the film Spartacus. But the Douglases permanent marriage didn't start with love at first sight. Douglas’s six-decade commitment to Buydens actually began with a slightly sour meet-cute in Already a thriving movie star at the time, Douglas was cherished by audiences, mostly women,

A look back at Kirk Douglas&#; most celebrated sexual conquests

Renowned ladies’ dude Kirk Douglas wasn’t prepared to dish on his sexual exploits during his appearance on the Dick Cavett show in to hawk his latest production, “A Gunfight.”

But Cavett, a sly night-show host, knew viewers weren’t interested in Douglas’ new Western. They wanted to know if the very married hunk was bedding all those gorgeous Hollywood actresses.

Was he fooling around with Faye Dunaway on the position of “The Arrangement”? What about Kim Novak?

Cavett told him that ABC had compiled a film of all “the incredible number of women that acquire passed through your hands” — and he directed the actor to see a series of clips of himself romancing co-stars Lana Turner in “The Bad and the Beautiful,” Jean Simmons in “Spartacus,” Ava Gardner in “Seven Days in May” — and, of course, Dunaway.

“(Alfred) Hitchcock said in an interview once that it’s very hard for the romance on screen not to carry over into the private lives of the actors,” Cavett said coyly. “Have you set up this true?”

Douglas thumped in anger, “An actor is supposed to immerse himself in the role!”

Admittedly, I had never seen a Kirk Douglas production until I started doing research for this upload. Classic movies have been a staple in my life since I was a kid, but I managed to avoid seeing a Kirk Douglas production for 26 years. I felt it was in my best interest to watch something because I really had no idea what his acting even looked like. I chose The Bad and the Beautiful. I liked it a lot, but not because of Kirk. His ethics mirrored what I feel is to be his true identity; mean, complicated to work with, and a monster towards women.

Kirk Douglas is a layered individual. He was a champion for Dalton Trumbo and the Hollywood Ten during McCarthyism, an era in our country's history that is especially embarrassing. However, fighting for justice is the right thing to do, and standing up for political release does not cancel out his wrongdoings. I acquire a hard time applauding the efforts of a man who is believed to have caused so much pain to women.

When he finally died at the age of this year, people in my life looked to me for a reaction. The one I had was not appreciated by most. I was not mournful to see a Golden Age of Hollywood legend go. I had to share the trut
