The Fountainhead Pub has been a cornerstone of Vancouver's vibrant West Finish since opening in Located at the corner of Davie and Burrard Streets, "The Head" is the gateway to the city's Davie Village, welcoming regulars and international visitors alike, seven days a week.

The kitchen serves straight-up pub grub at lunch, dinner, late night and weekend brunch, but most folks come in for a "Regular J" bacon and mushroom burger or our legendary nachos.

Stop in for an after-work beer (we've got 15 beer and one cider on tap), hit us up later in the evening for a pre-clubbing cocktail or spend a few hours in front of the fireplace on our covered, heated patio with the best people-watching on Davie Street.

Our hours of operation are as follows, noting that we open at 11am every day! - Sunday thru Tuesday we close at midnight. Wednesday and Thursday we finalize at 1am, and Friday and Saturday we seal at 2am.

It wasn’t until the s that Davie Street’s gay village became apparent, but the history of queer communities concentrating in the West End goes back to at least the s, says Ron Dutton, archivist and founder of the B.C. Male lover and Lesbian Archives. As wealthy families began relocating to Shaughnessy and Kitsilano, the old West Finish mansions they left behind were broken up into smaller suites, or bulldozed to make way for apartment buildings for a new wave of productive class people. The fresh generation of West Cease dwellers included a lofty percentage of young lgbtq+ men who came from across Canada, attracted to the West End’s location, affordability and the anonymity of high-density living.

“It was a toxic second &#; there were a lot of people thrashed up, there were a lot of murders,” says Dutton. “And yet, within that, gay people set up safe spaces below the radar &#; whether it was an illegal boozecan or a house party &#; places where they could be themselves with one another before it became visible.
